NOTICE TO USER: This control product is to be used only in accordance with
the directions on this label. It is an offence under the Pest Control Products
Act to
use a control product under unsafe conditions.
NATURE OF THE RESTRICTION: This product must be used only in the manner
authorized; consult local pesticide regulatory authorities about use permits
that may be required.
RESTRICTED USES: Product is to be used for control of algae in municipal water
supplies (bodies of water that may be used as a source of potable water before
it is purified for drinking purposes). Do not apply or allow discharge to lakes,
flowing water or ponds with outflow.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Apply 1 litre Think Purity Algaecide and Odor Control
Solution to 60,000 litres of water for 1 ppm of copper.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Commercial Use: Think Purity Algaecide and Odor Control Solution is an
innovative formulation which provides an excellent control of algae in ponds,
dugouts, lagoons and potable water storage tanks.
Use Think Purity Algaecide and Odor Control Solution for the control of ammonia
and suppression of bacterial Odors in fermenting substrates, organic waste
holding tanks, sewage lagoons, animal manure pits and similar applications.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Dilution of 1: 60,000 (16 ML per 1,000 litres of water) provide 1 part per
million (ppm) of a biologically active form of copper (Cu++). Use a copper test
kit to determine existing copper level before adding Think Purity Algaecide and
Odor Control Solution. Do not exceed 1.0 ppm of copper in drinking water.
Ponds, Lagoons, Dugouts:
Product is to be applied for control of algae in industrial and farm ponds.
Apply 1 litre of Think Purity Algaecide and Odor Control Solution to 60,000 -
600,000 litres of water. Water condition and the extent of active
micro-organisms present determine the effective application rate. For permanent
algae control maintain 0.5 to 1.0 ppm Cu in the water. (Add l.6 mL of Think
Purity Algaecide and Odor Control Solution per 1, 000 litres to increase Cu by
0.1 ppm).
Algaecide for animal drinking water tanks:
Apply 1 litre of Think Purity Algaecide and Odor Control Solution to 60,000
litres of water for prevention of algal bloom. Maintain a minimum of 0.7 ppm of
copper++ in animal drinking water. Precaution Think Purity Algaecide and Odor
Control Solution may break up deposits of accumulated waterline impurities which
may cause digestive upset in animals. After treatment, flush waterlines with
clean water daily for one week or until the water pipes are cleared out
completely.
Bacterial odor control in liquid sewage and animal manure pits:
Application rates may vary depending on the amount of organic matter,
characteristics of manure or sewage, extent of bacterial activity in the pits,
and degree of desired odor reduction. Basic application rate is 1 litre of Think
Purity Algaecide and Odor Control Solution in 30,000 litres of sewage. Several
pit application points speed up dispersal. Odors should be reduced in a few
days. Treat added sewage once a week at 1:30,000 ratio (32 ML per 1,000 litres
of water). Treat manure lagoons 2 weeks before spraying on fields to reduce
odorous air pollution.
Other organic (fermenting) sludge's:
Think Purity Algaecide and Odor Control Solution must be thoroughly mixed with
sludge. Apply at the rate of 1 litre Think Purity Algaecide and Odor Control
Solution to 20,000 - 30,000 litres of sludge.
Highly contaminated pits:
Apply 20 ML Think Purity Algaecide and Odor Control Solution to 100 litres of
pit content. For best results, treat daily.
PRECAUTIONS
DO NOT INGEST. DO NOT GET ON SKIN, IN EYES OR ON CLOTHING. DO NOT INHALE.
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Wash with soap and water after handling. Do not
apply or allow discharge to lakes, flowing water or ponds with outflow. Do not
apply to areas frequented by wildlife.
DISPOSAL:
Dispose of excess Think Purity Algaecide and Odor Control Solution through use.
Do not pour into lakes or rivers as this may cause fish kill. Neutralize with
sodium bicarbonate or lime.
Do not reuse this container for any purpose. This is a recyclable container, and
is to be disposed of at a container collection site. Contact your local
distributor/dealer or municipality for the location of the nearest collection
site. Before taking the container to the collection site:
(1) Triple- or pressure-rinse the empty container. Add the rinsings to the spray
mixture in the tank.
(2) Make the empty, rinsed container unsuitable for further use.
If there is no container collection site in your area, dispose of the container
in accordance with provincial requirements.
For information on disposal of unused, unwanted product, contact the
manufacturer or the provincial regulatory agency. Contact the manufacturer and
the provincial regulatory agency in case of a spill, and for clean-up of spills.
FIRST AID
INHALATION: Remove victim to fresh air. Give artificial respiration if not
breathing. Get medical attention.
SKIN: Immediately flush with water for at least 15 minutes while removing
contaminated clothing. Wash before reuse. Destroy contaminated shoes. Get
medical attention.
EYES: Immediately flush eyes with a lot of running water for at least 15
minutes, lifting the upper and lower eyelids occasionally. Get immediate medical
attention.
INGESTION: Contact a poison control centre and seek medical aid immediately.
Never give anything by mouth if victim is rapidly losing consciousness, or is
unconscious or convulsing. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Give copious
amounts of water 200-400 mL. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING.
Take container, label or product name and Pest Control Product Registration
Number with you when seeking medical attention.
TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
INHALATION: Harmful if inhaled. Concentrated vapor or mist will damage upper
respiratory tract and be fatal. Repeated exposure may cause chronic bronchitis
or
respiratory inflammation.
SKIN CONTACT : Can cause irritation or burns. Repeated contact with dilute
solutions may cause dermatitis.
EYE CONTACT: Contact with eyes may result in permanent visual loss unless
removed quickly by irrigation with water.
INGESTION: May be fatal if swallowed.
STORAGE:
Store in a safe place away from pets and children. Store away from excessive
heat. Think Purity Algaecide and Odor Control Solution will freeze, causing
separation. Always keep container closed. Store Think Purity Algaecide and Odor
Control Solution in its original container only. Do not store Think Purity
Algaecide and Odor Control Solution directly on concrete and store above 5_C.
HANDLING EQUIPMENT:
Application or storage equipment MUST consist of either fiberglass, PVC's,
polypropylenes, viton, most plastics, aluminum or stainless steel. Never use
mild steel, nylon, brass or copper around full strength Think Purity Algaecide
and Odor Control Solution.
Always rinse equipment free and clean of Think Purity Algaecide and Odor
Control Solution each day with plenty of fresh, clean water. Fabrics containing
nylon or cotton will dissolve on contact with full strength of Think Purity
Algaecide and Odor Control Solution.
ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS:
FISH AND AQUATIC ORGANISMS: This product is toxic to fish, aquatic invertebrates
and
plants. Direct application of Think Purity Algaecide and Odor Control Solution
to water may cause a significant reduction in populations of aquatic
invertebrates, plants and fish. Do not treat more than one-half of a pond or
dugout at one time in order to avoid oxygen depletion originating from the
decaying of the vegetation. Allow one to two weeks between treatments for the
oxygen level to recover.
Trout and other species of fish may be killed at application rates recommended
on this label, especially in soft or acid waters. Do not contaminate water when
disposing of equipment wash waters. (See disposal instructions.)
*CONSULT THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT BEFORE APPLYING THIS PRODUCT TO PUBLIC
WATERS.
Permits may be required before treating such waters.
NOTICE TO BUYER:
Seller's guarantee shall be limited to the terms set out on the label and,
subject thereto, the buyer assumes the risk to persons or property arising from
the use or handling of this product and accepts the product on that condition.
